CUPERTINO, Calif., June 4, 2008 - Practically everyone has been in a position
where they’ve wanted to speak the truth but couldn’t find the courage or didn’t
know the right words to say. Now, with a new website called Redtoll.com
(http://www.redtoll.com), people everywhere can log on, enter someone’s e-mail
address, and send an anonymous comment. No longer must people keep quiet about a
friend with an unpleasant habit, put up silently with sexist coworkers, or
resist paying a compliment. With Redtoll.com, people can speak the truth,
confidentially resolving issues or expressing thoughts they would not otherwise
make known.
“This website is a conflict-resolution and communication tool that provides an
avenue to fix problems without having the fear of appearing confrontational,
embarrassed or uncomfortable,” says Redtoll.com’s founder. “Many people are very
reserved and struggle to voice their thoughts, and so they keep them bottled up
inside. You can’t expect everyone to develop perfect communication skills
overnight, so this website gives them a way to reach out anonymously.”
Redtoll.com lets people “Redtoll,” or post comments that they don’t want to
deliver in person. The site offers two ways to Redtoll: publicly and privately.
A Private Redtoll is meant strictly for the recipient. Once a comment is posted,
the recipient will be sent a Redtoll e-mail alert. The recipient won’t know who
the sender is and must view the comment at Redtoll.com. On viewing, the
recipient can delete or respond to the comment.
Anyone who searches for and finds comments that were posted as “Public Redtolls”
can view a Public Redtoll. If the sender provides the recipient’s e-mail
address, the recipient will be sent a Redtoll e-mail alert. Unlike Private
Redtolls, the recipient cannot delete a Public Redtoll but may respond to it. An
online version of a physical “comment box,” Redtoll.com is a completely
innovative communication concept.
“Blogs let you post a comment but you never know if the recipient has read it,”
Redtoll.com’s founder says. “Facebook allows you to place an anonymous comment
on a friend’s page, provided the friend has the required application.
Redtoll.com is unique: It allows you to post a helpful comment about anyone or
anything, and the status of its receipt is verifiable.”
Redtolling is all about commenting to make a situation better, not worse, and
all Redtollers are encouraged to avoid mean-spirited remarks, using humor
whenever possible. Of note, Redtoll recipients can reply to Redtollers and
develop a dialogue, while anonymity remains protected — the secret to this
service’s success.
